from here
[ It's 9:05 on Tuesday. Grantaire has literally just left Enjolras with the cat. ]
Are you sure you fed it this morning?

[ Meanwhile, Grantaire is very much off to that "vague and nondescript thing" which is likely just him napping on Bossuet and Joly's couch for a few hours. ]
Of course I did. I wouldn't leave without feeding her. Why do you ask?

She seems to want a lot of attention. I thought she might be hungry.

No. Believe it or not, she just wants attention. She is unfortunately not very subtle about it.

She's climbing up my leg.

You might try petting her, Enjolras. She doesn't breathe fire.

I have petted her. It was the first thing I did so she could get my scent.

Is climbing up people's leg encouraged? What is the proceedure for time out if she misbehaves?

It isn't discouraged. You can help her get where she's trying to go if you would rather her not.
If she misbehaves, you tell her you're disappointed and suggest she does better next time.

[ If that's an appropriate method of communicating with cats, then Enjolras has Ideas. ]

My aunt has a cat that I don't think I've ever seen move.
[He's making a Presentation for the cat about appropriate cat behaviour and the consequences of not following it. There may or may not be a graph.]

Are you certain your aunt's cat is alive?
[
...Enjolras, that's not how cats work.
But Grantaire would be curious to see said presentation.

I can tell the difference between a live and and dead cat.
[ You said that to discipline her you had to talk to her. A Presentation is the logical extension of that. ]

Yes, extremely logical.

I don't doubt that. I just wasn't sure if you had been paying attention to the cat.

I'm getting the idea that there's no danger of me not paying attention to your cat.
Perhaps being abandoned as a kitten made her more desperate for attention than a normal cat?

She needs attention 24 hours a day, Enjolras.
[
She absolutely does not.
]
Try ignoring her. See what happens.
[
She'll probably just curl up and go to sleep.
