Bearing in mind that I have already admitted to being an idiot, none of that sounds like a particularly good idea. I don't want to surprise anyone. I don't want to make him do anything he doesn't want to do. I just want him to not despise me.
Find the time? Why, all you have to do is make sure he's got your wifi password and he'll set up in your flat. After all, what does he actually have to do to look after a cat? It won't want his attention. It won't want to climb up his leg or miaow at him or try to attack his frankly ridiculous hair????
